Darkroom Project 2008

5-03-08 - I found a countertop on Craigslist for free! I set it up on my sawhorses to check for height and see if my 2 Omega enlargers will fit side by side...and they do! I'll be building a nice big stand for the counter to sit on with plenty of storage underneath. The Omega D2 enlarger baseboard does hang off the counter about 1 inch, so I'll have to do something to extend the counter out just a bit in that spot. The counter is 7 ft long, though it may not look like it in this photo. Also, I have finished drywall on the 3 walls now. Just need to tape and compound the seams next. Im not going to drywall the wall you see here until I get my electrical done. But this is the foundation wall so really there is a wall there. Now I need to find myself a door of some kind. Then paint the ceiling, floor, walls, do the plumbing.....other than that it's coming along.

4 -27-08 - Here is a little movie short of what the darkroom is looking like. Hope it works for you. Gotta be patient though it takes a while to load. Go get a snack and come back in a bit.....

4-5-08 - Drywall is going up on the inside the darkroom. Also, didnt mention this before but Im trying to find a 6ft-7ft long counter top for my enlargers. I put an ad on Craigslist and have had a few people make offers. Still waiting for the perfect one though.

It's a start!

In this photo you can see that the door from the above photo is gone, I took it out to give me more space for the darkroom and moved it to the other side of the room so we can still keep the boiler room closed off. So now the official darkroom mesurements are 14ft X 7ft.

Follow the building of my darkroom from start to finish this year. No idea how long it will take, but it will be done. You can vaguely see the chalk outline I drew on the floor. Before I begin I need to scrape and paint that stone wall with waterproof paint, then the framing will begin. Final dimensions will be approximately 14ft long by 5.5 ft wide, with one end jutting out to 7ft wide for my sink area.
