9/25/05 - Here is a photo of Providence after the hurricane of 1954. This image is from the Historical collectioin at the Providence Public Library. If you go to the main page and click on Providence there are about 2000 photos there. What a great find this is. There are many images of downdown that I would love to do a before and after series on.I wonder how many of these 2000 I could re-photograph now. Im sure some places are gone now, but it would be fun to try to do as many as possible.

The Red Sox are tied now for first place with the Yankees. 8 games left with the last 3 against the Yankees at Fenway Park. What could be better? Well, winning those last 3 games.....

9/24/05 - Paw #34

That's it. Im done with Ebay for good. The Olympus XA I bought exactly one month ago has yet to arrive and Im not getting much help from the "seller". They say they are trying to track it for me thru USPS, but I havent heard back from them in a while. My last 3 emails have been unanswered. The seller gave me a tracking number, but it doesnt work, not enough numbers I was told. Never again will I buy this way.

Anyway there just hasnt been a lot of time lately for me to shoot or print. Ive got a free day today, so I plan to go and shoot somewhere and hit the darkroom later.

Here's an interesting article from Fortune magazine about revisiting the families that Walker Evans photographed and James Agee wrote about in "Let Us Now Praise Famous Men". Fortune originally comissioned the two to do the work, but then refused to publish the results they came back with, so the two produced their own book. Its eyeopening to hear what the surviving family members say about how they felt they were treated.

9/18/05 - Paw # 33.

9/14/05 - Someone posted a couple aerial photos of downtown Providence on the Urban Planet Website. Now you all can see where I spend most of my time shooting. Its so strange seeing it from this far away.

9/10/05 - I added a new link today. Check out Jean-Philippe Cote from Montreal. He is planning a possible photo road trip to New York soon and may swing thru Providence to do some shooting.

9/8/05 - Robbie Becklund on what inspires him. Thanks Robbie.

Me? - My Alfred Steiglitz documentary, any Harry Callahan or Andre Kertesz image, wandering in big cities, late day shadows, old cameras that break down a lot, foo fighters, a photo I made of my amazing cousin Bruce - He had downs syndrome and passed away on his 30th birthday. Oh yeah, Jack Daniels.

Today's Brooks Jenson Audio blog entry. What keeps you inspired?

9/5/05 - I usually cringe at bird photos, but here is a rare one that Ive taken and like, along with a couple other new ones.

Shots Magazine takes submissions for work, and the winter issue's theme is going to be "The City". Think I'll give it a try. Published in Minneapolis, Its a magazine dedicated to black and white work. Deadline is November.

9/4/05 - Made some changes to the colors on my site as you can see. Just wanted to lighten things up a little I guess. Can't say it wont change again. Im not too sure why I bother though, as traffic has dwindled.Tthough there are some diehards that continue visitong. So thanks to you! I was reading an interview with Latrigue the other night and he said he had hundreds or thousands of images that only he has seen and would never be published. The published ones or the famous ones were carefully chosen of course. He said the vast majority of work he did was just for himself, because it was what he liked doing more than anything else.

This was shot from my car window as I headed downtown to shoot.
