I didn't decide to be a photographer; I just happened to fall into it. -Berenice Abbott

Back to Journal

Here is a link to a Charlie Rose interview with Bresson.

oh, and its been raining so much our ceiling is starting to leak in our apartment. I have mentioned this issue to the landlords and I don't think they care or realize they are headed towards needing a new roof on this house. It's not raiing buckets in here, but it does leak up in the attic in a few spots and the wood on the roof can't be enjoying it too much. After our wedding we are going to look for a new place I think. Let's see, otherwise Ive been triying to buy a couple things for my darkroom lately. Just got a footswitch for $15 and am scouring Ebay for an electronic timer to go with it, both Gralab. Ive got a bid on a timer that is ending today. Im longing for the day when we own our own place and we can set up a more permanent darkrrom and an adjacent workspcae for storage, spotting, framing and such. Right now it, find an open spot on the living room table to work on.

One more from Cape Cod. Bessa R with Fuji 400 devel in Rodinal. I also shot a roll with my Agfa Isolette that I'll be developing tomorrow. Im anxious to see if it's working ok and to print the 6X6 negs. Mechanically it seems fine, just want to check for light leaks, etc. I'll post the results, good, bad or ugly.

Went to the Cape yesterday, there is a thread on RRF for pics of boats out of the water, so here ya go. We were in Orleans and Chatham to be exact. Stacey had a wedding to shoot and so I spent the day photographing. More pics to come from the day. I tried some shooting with my Rolliecord, but the film was fogged, old camera that should stay on the shelf. I have an Agfa Isolette on the way, so we'll see how that does. I have the itch to shoot 6X6 for some reason. These were shot with my Bessa and 35mm lens using Fuji 400 adn Lucky 400. The lucky film isn't bad actually, the shot of the boat in the woods below is Lucky film. A little contrasty for scanning, but I like it. All developed in Rodinal.

June 10 - I made it into the darkroom today for several hours. So if anyone is out there and is interested there will be a few new pictures posted here in the morning. I opened my box of 11X14 and printed a couple things. Pretty cool how it looks at that size, only problem is I need larger trays. Its kinda tough getting an 11x14 print out of 11x14 trays without bending them somehow.

June 3 - I think I've been loading my Bessa wrong .Kind of embarrassing to admit. Twice I have had frames come out double exposed with this camera. Someone on RRF just posted a pic of the proper way to load the Bessa and it's not how I've been doing it. Apparently the film leader goes under the spool, not over it. Is it the cause of my problem? stay tuned......................

This is an old broken down van that sits in our driveway / backyard.

I just sold 3 prints to someone that found my website and emailed me.So Im headed to the darkroom today to print those, I might try printing some new stuff on the 11X14 paper I just bought. Otherwise, I've added a new wedding to Stacey's website. One of her best I think. She's already getting info requests for 2007 weddings.
