July 05 July 31-This morning Ive been toying with the idea of shooting some medium format stuff. On my shelf of cameras I have an old Kodak Duaflex camera. Its a fixed twin lens camera with a super bright waist level viewfinder. I have no idea what type of images it would give me, but I may try it out. It was made to take the old 620 film, but I can just respool 120 film as its pretty much the same size. If you appreciate images taken using plastic cameras and lenses, you'll really like this photographer's website from New York. The photographer has a series of images of Dayburners in Central Park using many different cameras and then writes interesting notes about each camera. Also, be sure to read the statement about the Dayburner images. Be careful, you might get stuck on this website for a while, as I did. Dayburners, New York
Here's an interesting article from BBC News. Do digital cameras make us better photographers? A roll of film was a permanent record - one literally had a physical document of all the images from a shoot or collected over a number of days. Today though there is an obvious temptation to delete files and just keep the images one thinks are worth saving. I can't tell you, being a film user, how many times I have gone back to look at a roll of negatives and found a gem that I had previously missed. Its all part of the process for me. Digital is all about instant gratifiication, but is that what photography is meant to be? Not for me. We're off to Fenway today to see the Red Sox play. I havent been in about 5 years so Im looking forward seeing all the changes that have been made to the ballpark. July 28
------------------------------------------------------------------ July 24- PAW # 26 Providence- You can see I-195 in the distance as well as the harbor beyond that.
July 21 - I received my copy of "On being a photographer" in the mail today. Its written by David Hurn(Magnum) and Bill Jay. July 16 - These two images were made during my recent parking garage excursions. Also, Ive been playing around with the blogger software again. I dont know if I'll use it. It might help me get more traffic to my site, but I like using Dreamweaver. Ive decided Im not really going to be writing a whole lot here since my site is really supposed to be about the photos. Maybe once in a while I'll need to vent about my computer frustrations or share something interesting Ive come across on the internet, but otherwise.....so I'll shut up now. Oh, one more thing. I was on a forum recently and someone said he liked my work, but Im "not exactly Ansel Adams just yet". Um, how does Ansel Adams come up in regards to comparing my work to someone? Now if he had said that Im no Kertesz just yet, ok. No offense to Ansel who was amazing, but that couldnt be further from where I want my work to go. Not that I expect to be regarded on the same level as Kertesz anytime soon. Now Im really shutting up. Here's an interesting blog from China. I found it because there is a link to my site on it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ July 9 - Paw #25. I shot this one from the top of a parking garage which I recently discoverd offers great views of the city. More to come. Also, For now Im just going to post my photo of the week on my home page. I feel another total site redesign coming on, but not quite sure where to begin. This one was shot with my Yashica Lynx 14 which Im selling on Ebay, so if youre interested you get a sense of what this camera can do.
Think I'll get up early tomorrow and go shoot.
